‘More Than A Wedding’- A Poem By Oyindamola Adefunke

More than a wedding

It takes more than a day
To test your patience again
We all need to realize
That wedding is more than chicken and rice

When the smile turns sour
And vision becomes blur
What then would be your motivation
For you to stand strong against raging faction

When there’s no more butterfly in your belly
And your heart becomes heavy
Probably you noticed a stain spray
Will you still be willing to stay?

Marriage is more than a wedding
The feelings can’t forever be steady
The aftermath of a wedding
Is more than the extravagant dressing
